    Karyn Galbraith

    Studio Owner

     

    Karyn is a Body Control Pilates (BCP) teacher, is a member of the Body Control Pilates Association (BCPA) and holds a Level 3 certification with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS). In addition to helping clients with their exercise goals, Karyn assists training teachers and is a Supervising Teacher for both Matwork and Reformer.

    Julie Penfold

    Physio led Clinical Pilates

     

    Julie is a qualified Physiotherapist with over 28 years of experience. She is registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the Health and Care Professions Council.

     

    Having initially started out her Physiotherapy career in the NHS, Julie has been working in Private Practice since 2001. Over this time she has helped many patients with a huge variety of issues including sporting injuries, post-operative recovery and long-term conditions.

    Julie undertook Pilates training at the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute which is designed, taught and developed by Physiotherapists and bases its teaching on degree-level understanding of movement, anatomy and physiology. Julie’s comprehensive knowledge of the musculoskeletal system helps to guide exercise selection and rehabilitation progression.

     

    Julie combines her Physiotherapy and Pilates knowledge and experience to offer Clinical Pilates sessions which include an initial assessment of your condition and tailoring of your rehabilitation exercises towards your specific goals.

    Becks Butler

    Pilates Instructor

     

    Becks started her training with Michael King at the Pilates Institute, obtaining Level 3 in Matwork and has over 10 years of experience in teaching Pilates.

     

    Since then, Becks has continued on her Pilates education journey and has gained the additional training and qualifications in:

    Virginie Buckingham

    Pilates Instructor

     

    Virginie is a Body Control Pilates (BCP) teacher,
    is a member of the Body Control Pilates Association (BCPA) and holds a Level 3 certification with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs).

    She holds a Level 3 Matwork Pilates teacher certification.

    Virginie has been practicing Pilates for 15 years. She enjoys Yoga in her spare time. She is passionate about teaching the Pilates method to increase her clients' strength, flexibility and mobility. There is nothing more rewarding to her than having a positive impact on people's lives.

    Anamika Patil

    Yoga Instructor

     

    Anamika is a Level-3 Certified Yoga Instructor from London. She practices and teaches Hatha Yoga. She is also qualified Hatha yoga practitioner from India.

     

    Hatha yoga originated as a pathway from Raja Yoga. The term Hatha means physical or forceful in that by performing it, the Asanas / posture and focusing on the breathing, the mind is forced to withdraw from external distractions and instead focuses towards the internal experience.

     

    “Anamika believes in the true authenticity of yoga and teaches in original method of Hatha Yoga. Yoga is all about balancing the body and the mind.

     

    Anamika has knowledge of Sanskrit, which is the original language of Yoga. She

    explains the true meaning of each Asana / posture by translating it in english while teaching Yoga which helps to get the maximum consciousness of each posture.

     

    She honestly trusts in giving back to the society her knowledge of yoga in following saying :

    ‘Your body is the only place you have; take care of it and enjoy living in it.’

    Erdinç Södek

    Personal Trainer/Pilates Instructor

     

     

    Erdinc was introduced to fitness through Judo in his teens, going on to compete nationally for Turkey winning Bronze in the National Championships.


    He is certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist through The Okan University and also has certifications from The International EXOS PerformanceSpecialist.

    Over the last 11 years as a Personal Trainer he has gone on to specialise in Injury Prevention, Corrective Exercise and Athletic Performance. Erdinc has completed his Polestar teaching training using all studio equipment.

    Siobhan Sagar

    Siobhan qualified as a level 3 mat pilates teacher in 2019 after serving 30 years in public service.

    Pilates Instructor

     

    Maya trained with Polestar Pilates in London. She obtained full certification as a Level 3 Reformer instructor and Level 3 Matwork from Active IQ.

    Maya discovered Pilates following advice to strengthen her back due to having scoliosis. She has attended Pilates classes for four years and has thoroughly enjoyed both the benefits of it, and teaching. She hopes to further her knowledge in rehabilitation and specialise in Back Pathologies. One of her main goals is to help her clients become pain free.

    Megan Jayawardena

    Pilates Instructor

     

    Megan is a Level 3 Certified Pilates Matwork Instructor with a background in teaching languages and dance. She has been practicing Pilates since the 1990's for its benefits in maintaining posture and balance, pain prevention and increased energy.

    Megan loves to share the joys of the Pilates method so that others can also benefit as she has. She is also a qualified Yoga instructor and spends her free time hiking along the Thames.

    Pilates Instructor

     

    Yana is a Body Control Pilates (BCP) teacher,is a member of the Body Control Pilates Association (BCPA). She holds a Level 3 Matwork Pilates teacher certification.

    After trying all forms of exercise , having few injuries and as a result discovering Pilates , it became my go to, not just as a form of exercise but mental conditioning , escape from stress and anxiety , a happy place . Having experienced the joy , the ability to understand how one owns body works , I took a plunge to become a Pilates instructor myself , so I could help other people feel better in their daily life

    Special interests besides Pilates , hiking , breath work , mental health ( anxiety, panic attacks , depression ) and body psychotherapy. I view body and mind as two inseparable units , where thoughts , feelings emotions have a direct impact on our physical body and where through movement and breath one can relieve stress and tension , allowing the body to move freely and with ease .

    Sue Wilson

    Studio Administration

     

    Sue joined us in summer 2022 and is currently covering the Reception desk.


    Sue has worked with young children and their families, before spending the last five years working closely with young adults with Profound and Multiple learning difficulties. She believes passionately in inclusivity for all, and that a calm, welcoming, friendly environment promotes wellbeing

     

    Sue enjoys photography, and many of our clients have been happy to help her update our website with photos of the wide range of classes taking place.
